It looks like ice crystals on glass
Guest - Sep 13, 2007 05:53 PM EDT
glad you joined in the fun, Don, and hugs to you also! I've got to put a pic of the bowl up here too.
Guest - Sep 13, 2007 09:00 AM EDT
I just caught this one in the new comments section Alandra. And just spent 30 minutes reading all the replys, I would like to take a guess too....LOL. J/K. A very beautiful pattern and impressive loooong thread and I felt the need to be a part of it. It reminds me of Brians Lockness monster thread. Hey if you guys are giving out hugs....I'll take a couple :-) Don
Guest - Sep 13, 2007 02:53 AM EDT
LOL Vicki, that is funny and maybe you're right!, about the longest running thread here. Hugs back, dear friend.
Guest - Sep 13, 2007 12:04 AM EDT
That's classic, Alandra - even after you gave the totally unexpected answer they were still guessing. How funny. Give yourself a pat on the back for probably the longest-running thread on TLF!!! Hugs, my dear friend.
Guest - Sep 12, 2007 10:33 PM EDT
guess I'll just hafta get round to taking a pic of that dish! : )
Guest - Feb 08, 2007 12:43 PM EDT
That is really a super photo. I would've never thought it was a pattern on a dish. Probably the dish standing alone isn't as photogenic. But I bet we'd all like to see it.
Guest - Nov 12, 2006 02:24 AM EDT
thanks for commenting, Kimberly, glad you like it and see the humorous side to it :)
Guest - Nov 11, 2006 11:21 PM EDT
Very nice job Alandra... great picture... sounds like something I would do... hehe
Guest - Nov 11, 2006 01:21 AM EDT
thanks for guessing, but sorry, it's not that :) - altho it does look like it. I gave the answer more than a year ago. It's the pattern on a shallow dish/bowl.
Guest - Nov 11, 2006 12:20 AM EDT
Window frost crystals in winter.
Guest - Oct 17, 2006 05:38 AM EDT
thankyou Amy for taking time to leave a nice comment.
Guest - Jul 27, 2006 11:07 PM EDT
Very cool pic. I would have never thought of a dish. Great pic, keep up the good work:)
Guest - Apr 14, 2006 04:38 PM EDT
yes, it does look like that, Nancy : )
Guest - Apr 10, 2006 10:38 PM EDT
Alandra,I never would have guessed it,I thought the same as others.Great Picture, fantastic idea! Love Nancy
Guest - Mar 25, 2006 07:38 AM EDT
I have guessed what it is! Its a pattern on a bowl?dish?
Guest - Feb 26, 2006 03:36 PM EDT
thankyou, Artsyinchicago (forget your name : ) for taking a look and enjoying the comments etc. I did tell what it is, quite early on, but seems like people missed it : ) so I had to keep telling.
Guest - Feb 26, 2006 02:08 PM EDT
That is soooooooo neat!! I do see the face in the upper right hand corner! Very interersting! Thanks for telling us you would of had us guessing for years. Lots of creative guesses though! Great Job!
Guest - Jan 29, 2006 03:07 PM EDT
thanks for giving a guess, Dave from Wisconsin, but "no" it's the glaze on the inside of a bowl : )
Guest - Jan 27, 2006 11:59 PM EDT
I think it is Frost on a window
Guest - Dec 31, 2005 02:49 PM EDT
hi neighbour, Seatac 33 : ) - thanks for the comment, glad you like it. It's the design in the glaze fired into the bowl. It's by Portmeirion Pottery of Stoke on Trent, England, -the Starfire Collection "Opal" (this is from the back of the bowls : ) incase you want to look for some, oven to table, etc. We picked some "odd" pieces up at Winners, think it's the same as your Homesense ? - there's also a "Jade" in the same design, but with a frosty sort of green around the rims and a green back to the pieces. have some of each. you never know what you might find at Winners : )
Guest - Dec 29, 2005 09:53 PM EDT
I know you stated in March that this is a pattern on a bowl, but do you mean the "crackly" paint that some people paint onto the back of their aquariums, or an actual design fired into the bowl? Kewl, whichever it is!
Guest - Dec 25, 2005 02:12 PM EDT
Either coconut or dandelion fuzzies.
Guest - Dec 06, 2005 09:43 PM EDT
sorry Shadow, no, it's not that. I already gave the answer many months ago : ) It's the inner side of a shallow bowl
Guest - Dec 06, 2005 09:49 AM EDT
ooh! Is it a landscape, with a close-up tree on the left and clouds in the sky and trees on the horizon down on the right?
Guest - Dec 06, 2005 09:45 AM EDT
Is it flower petals?
Guest - Oct 10, 2005 04:37 PM EDT
Hi Lydia, no it's not something that's shattered inside : ) or a glass vase. there's nothing shattered about it. it's still being used : )
Guest - Oct 10, 2005 03:43 PM EDT
I was right and I didn't even read where you told us! Cool!
Guest - Oct 10, 2005 03:40 PM EDT
Is it a glass vase or something that is shattered inside? Do tell us! I would love to know!
Guest - Sep 29, 2005 05:41 PM EDT
Hi Ken, good to see you here : ) but no, sorry, that's not "it". I gave the answer way back on 4 March.
Guest - Sep 29, 2005 05:18 PM EDT
Is it frosted glass in a window ?
Guest - Jun 27, 2005 08:36 AM EDT
I think it looks like frost on something?
Guest - May 10, 2005 06:52 PM EDT
hi, it does look like that, but it's not : ) I gave the answer ages ago - see the entry for 4 March for answer.
Guest - Apr 27, 2005 05:56 PM EDT
It looks like ice crystals on a window pane.
Guest - Apr 22, 2005 07:17 PM EDT
Hi ryanmit1, am sorry, but that is not the correct answer as it is NOT frost on a window! In the previous post to yours, I told what the pattern is, as I did earlier : )
Guest - Apr 21, 2005 04:34 PM EDT
I am supprised only one person knew this was frost on a window. I have taken many similiar pictures all winter on all sorts of glass.
Guest - Mar 29, 2005 10:41 PM EDT
Hi Sheila, here's the "What's this?" pic that I posted back in early February, guess you didn't see it before you left. thanks Deanna, but no it's not frozen water in a bowl, but you're close. I gave the answer on March 4th. It's the pattern on a bowl.
Guest - Mar 28, 2005 08:45 PM EDT
Is it frozen water in a bowl?
Guest - Mar 19, 2005 06:50 AM EDT
Hi May and "R" in Egypt. No, it's neither of your guesses, but thanks for them. It's the design/glaze on a shallow bowl that I have, - a dish for eating from. Agree, it does look like a dog's face or fox face in upper right corner - several people noticed that. Just a coincidence,I guess. best wishes, Alandra
Guest - Mar 17, 2005 07:57 PM EDT
Looks like wires to me covered with a peice of cloth ... It's pretty tho!
Guest - Mar 17, 2005 01:05 PM EDT
Fish tank paint? The kind you paint on the back instead of pasting on the murals? And maybe someone's face in the upper right?
Guest - Mar 13, 2005 09:47 AM EDT
Hi Janice, you didn't offend me, no problem. Hope everyone had fun trying to figure out what it was : )
Guest - Mar 13, 2005 06:13 AM EDT
Alandra Didnt mean to offend you but I was getting frustrated at guessing that. I thought if I picked at it. Something would appear and that is when I got the face.
Guest - Mar 04, 2005 08:34 AM EDT
Okay guys and gals. will tellyu what it is. It's a pattern on a bowl/dish : ) Hard to believe right, as there's so much depth to it. I should send you a pic of the dish, so you can see for yourselves. LOL.
Guest - Mar 04, 2005 08:27 AM EDT
yeah, Janice, it does look like a face at top R corner, there seem to be eyes and a "muzzle" like a dogs face : )
Guest - Mar 04, 2005 08:25 AM EDT
no, not a diamond or other clear stone. thanks tho, for guessing.
Guest - Mar 03, 2005 08:58 AM EDT
is it a close up of a diamond? or some other type of "clear" stone?
Guest - Mar 03, 2005 06:15 AM EDT
haven't seen those super stretchy plastic bags yet here, KM, so definitely not that : ) and not stacked dry cleaning bags, Alex D. sorry guys, thanks for ideas. I had no idea it would reach these proportions LOL
Guest - Mar 03, 2005 12:46 AM EDT
Do you all see the stretched out face in the upper right hand corner of the photo. I'm getting tired of trying to guess what this is. It is pretty intrigueing though.
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 10:38 PM EDT
Adding to the previous comment, how about dry cleaning bags, piled on top of one another?
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 08:09 PM EDT
How about one of those new super stretchy plastic bags? I can see a torn corner on the lower left side. Hey, I love the gimmick!!!lol
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 04:54 PM EDT
all good guesses, but not right, sorry guys : )
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 07:14 AM EDT
spilt milk frozen.
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 07:10 AM EDT
frozen skin on top of paint pot.
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 06:03 AM EDT
How about an old dried up paintbrush?
Guest - Mar 02, 2005 01:42 AM EDT
when are we gonna find out what it is...the suspence is killin me :)
Guest - Mar 01, 2005 10:00 PM EDT
a white carnation?
Guest - Mar 01, 2005 07:29 AM EDT
thanks, my shattered soul and wife, and Alex D - those are both great ideas, but not correct ones. it does look something like pencil sharpener shavings or white chocolate shavings. and the flash did go off automatically. This is making me hungry, would like some white choc about now : )
Guest - Feb 28, 2005 03:59 AM EDT
I like the idea of shavings, but how about white chocolate shavings on a cake? A wedding cake perhaps?
Guest - Feb 27, 2005 11:33 AM EDT
pencil sharpener shavings....is that it? it looks like a black and white of that...betting the flash was used too :)
Guest - Feb 26, 2005 10:34 PM EDT
thanks for the guesses, eman and Gary. Nope, not lettuce leaves, Gary. not heavy frost on windows, but looks like it.
Guest - Feb 23, 2005 04:50 PM EDT
How about lettuce leaves?
Guest - Feb 22, 2005 01:35 PM EDT
looks likea picture of ice or heavy frost on a window. what every it is nice job it really makes you stop and take a close look
Guest - Feb 22, 2005 04:16 AM EDT
Shucks...I was wanting the prize.:-)
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 11:11 PM EDT
nice to see you here too Eddie and Arlene : ) thankyou. but no, not grasses Arlene.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 10:52 PM EDT
Could it be a close up of some grasses?
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 10:51 PM EDT
For some reason I can see faces in it.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 09:14 PM EDT
Hi RKB, thanks for the guess, but no it's not manipulated clouds. good thought tho'
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 04:42 PM EDT
Is it manipulated clouds?
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 06:15 AM EDT
good to "see" you here, Nick! thanks for joining in also. but no, that's not it, but a good idea. so nice to see the DH's of friends taking part : )
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 05:18 AM EDT
Looks like silver mylar that has been crumbled.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 04:00 AM EDT
A feather duster. we seem to be stuck on things with feathers...
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 03:59 AM EDT
A plastic Hawaiian Lei?
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 03:53 AM EDT
Okay, I thought of ice crackles, wadded saran wrap...but reading the comments I can see that those are not it.... HUMMMMMMMMMMMM
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 03:48 AM EDT
Is it Christopher Reeve's Lair??
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 03:32 AM EDT
sorry Janice, no, but neat idea for a guess.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 01:58 AM EDT
C'mon, Alandra - put us out of our misery - my guesses were already picked too. This is really terrific, though!
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 01:41 AM EDT
Could it be an airbag from a car when you get in an accident or a mylar balloon deflated.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 12:49 AM EDT
Hi Dud, Joan, Arlene. all good guesses but not the right one. You'll all be surprised when you hear what it is : ) it's hard for me to believe even, when looking at it.
Guest - Feb 21, 2005 12:06 AM EDT
Is it champagne glasses in plastic bags? This reminds me of my Abstract 1 and 2.
Guest - Feb 20, 2005 11:37 PM EDT
Kind of looks like torn lettuce
Guest - Feb 20, 2005 11:25 PM EDT
Very intriguing! I vote for flower petals manipulated as to color and several other ways.
Guest - Feb 11, 2005 06:07 AM EDT
I know what it is, but am not telling, haha. (Alandra's husband)
Guest - Feb 09, 2005 02:19 PM EDT
Looks like Frost on a window to me!
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 06:21 PM EDT
Hi Carol and Alex, thanks for the guesses, but no, it's not silk and not crumpled plastic wrap, good guesses tho' : )
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 05:53 PM EDT
Its a piece of crumpled up pastic wrap.
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 03:35 PM EDT
Is it a piece of silk material with frayed edges? Carol
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 06:28 AM EDT
that's what I expected people would think it was, Jim, but no, sorry, not right. Thanks for the praise, also, Jim. It is kindof neat, isn't it. was pleased how it turned out, surprised too : )
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 05:33 AM EDT
We don't see anything like this down here in AUS but my guess is that it is frost or ice crystals on a a window pane. It certainly makes a great photo.
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 03:57 AM EDT
no, not feathers, Tam. lol - and glad you like it, Alex : ) thanks. you'll be surprised when you find out what it is (I think)
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 02:57 AM EDT
I don't have the faintist idea what this is. But, I like it nonetheless.
Guest - Feb 08, 2005 02:48 AM EDT
feathers
