About This Image

This is a flower on a Tulip tree as it un-folds.I really like the texture of the husk that it comes out of.Taken against the clear blue sky it looks rather alien.

Thanks Alandra and Gav.I look forward to this shrub again this year,if the arctic blasts stop soon.We have had very un-characterisic weather this year, with snow in April and I think the plants don't know if they are coming or going.lol

What a great shot. The fuzzy sepals are well captured. I also love the Buds opening. Mine had some more Flowers a short time ago with all the leaves on the tree. Very out of season.

Lovely, Claudia, and I agree about the texture of the protective husk. I think many of the trees and shrubs around here are later blooming than usual, due to the cooler temps we've had this spring.

Anne, thanks for looking in at my work.I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting around.I guess that means that we will have to take lots of pictures, for you to look at this season.

How very beautiful to watch the Tulip Tree Flower emerge. I won't get to see it this year as I am still having problems walking - but I will look at your picture of it and think for sure I am right there at the foot of the Tulip Tree. I love these trees and their beautiful flowers. Thanks for getting this online at such a special time. Really excellent shot - and lovely!!
