Lorraine, Alex and Alandra, thanks for your comments. Alandra, I really wasn't too interested in taking closeups of flowers or bugs but I'm surprised myself that I'm more interested now that I have the macro lens. :)

believe it is a tulip tree blossom, Mary, - altho the ones in our area are more pink than this. Another name for tulip tree is Magnolia soulangea, - something like that :) glad you're enjoying the macro lens. I've always enjoyed taking closeups of flowers etc, and was surprised when you said recently that it wasn't your main photo interest.
