About This Image

Finally the earth's shadow covers the moon and yields that strange red color. This image was exposed for about 4 seconds and is noisy (same as grainy in film photography)because I had to pull the image out of an almost black background.

This was one of the shots that I set manually. I think I would have done better to stay on aperture priority and let the camera set the shutter speed. The time above is wrong. This was actually exposed at 1/25 sec at f/6 which is the maximum opening on this lens at 400mm. The RAW file looked completely blank, I had to use extreme adjustments with brightness and contrast in order to get this image. The ISO was set at 200. Clearly I need to do some more experimenting with my new camera.

This is a real photography lesson in one shot. Can you recall the settings you used, so the exposure would take so long? The ISO setting determines the 'noise'. Did you set this yourself?
