this is hard to believe, this Stellers Jay is trying to swallow the whole acorn! lol. We have been enjoying the antics of these gluttons even more since we discovered they love acorns, so we went out yesterday and gathered a whole load more, also horse chestnuts for the squirrels.
The stellers jays are chasing each other away from the acorns on the feeder : )

thanks Don, glad you found it interesting : ) Believe you're right about it taking a long time to digest the acorn. I was shocked when he swallowed a whole one, but DH saw him cough it back up. What characters they are! : )

My gosh! That is interesting, I bet if he did swallow it, it would take a long time to digest with the acorns hard covering I'd think. Nice capture! Don

Hi Janice, thanks for the comments. Well, he did swallow one while we watched, think it was a different acorn tho', but then he coughed it up again. At first I thought he'd choke to death, but DH saw him spit it back out LOL. they are something else.
