redwing blackbird thief :) Note the detail of it's claws. The bright red/orange of the epaulets has iridescence, very pretty. More of the red/orange/yellow shows when the birds take flight. Am hoping to capture an image of that, - but it's quite a challenge :)

thanks again, Janice for the nice comments. The red patch increases in size once the wings are opened more. Quite a bit of red shows then. very pretty. it's iridescent too.

Hi Golda, am glad you mentioned that about the large feet, as it did run thru my mind also, as to how big they were, but then didn't think about it again, til seeing your comment. For the size of the bird, I thought the feet were really big. Appreciated your comment, thanks.

These birds have the biggest feet that I have seen in the bird world.Great shot of this thief.
