About This Image

This is the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. It is the oldest Roman Catholic Cathedral in North America according to some. After it burnt down in 1788, don Almonaster rebuilt it. It is a great building and fronts Jackson Square. I decided that since it is historical I would give it the old black and white treatment. I hope you like it. There is an unusual feature to this Cathedral. On the exterior towers of the Cathedral are the Stars of David and the Russian Orthodox Cross.

Thanks for the comments!! Yes, it has a great history and has survived many hurricanes including this last one. It had a little roof damage but roofers were up there fixing it during one of my visits to the Square. I do love my city. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing. They built on high ground and in many cases they built the houses up off the ground.

A beautiful architectural study. Interesting history. I guess it survived the hurricane and flooding intact.

Nice church and the black and white makes it look old.

You're right, this is perfect for black and white. It has a very soft look that's very nice, and great detail. Cool :)
