Guest - Apr 09, 2005 12:12 PM EDT We had an even longer trip when we lived in Montana. We did have a choice, though. We could drive 90 miles to Bozeman, Montana or 115 miles to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Either way, it was mountain roads all the way. However, it was the most beautiful environment we've ever lived in, so it was worth it.

Fancy that, fifty miles to the grocery shop!! I HAVE to be near a supermarket, or at least have internet shopping!!
Guest - Apr 08, 2005 05:14 PM EDT Thanks Alex. We lived in Silverton at 9,000 feet, about 10 miles from this pass. When we went shopping for groceries or anything else, we had to go 50 miles over this pass and another one at about the same elevation. The narrow winding road scared the heck out of the flatlander tourists, so we usually went early to avoid them.
