About This Image

One of my neighbours calls this a snow drop, she has no idea of the right name, I think its a type of lily.

Thanks for that, yes I do know the Star of Bethlehem plant, I'll pass that on to my neighbour, but I think I had better write that one down, couldent find it my plant book, so thank you very much, thanks for looking in also.

Hi Lorraine think I can solve the mystery, I used to have these growing but had a few really hot days one summer and lost them. Their long fancy name is Ornithogalum thyrsoides which as far as I can find doesn't have a common name but it's cousin, who has black centres is called the star of Bethlehem. They are a Liliaceae. sorry to be long winded but got the plant book out.

I wasentall that sure that they were snow drops either, I have little white flowers in the orchard growing they hang over, and I always thought they were snow drops or snow bells, someone sure to know the right name, thanks for looking in and the coments.

Definitely not a snowdrop, but I can't tell you what it is I'm afraid! Photographically I think you've dealt with the high contrast of this subject very well. The highlights of the white petals are not boown out, but you can still see good detail in the shadows where the flower parts are. Nice shot.

Hi Lorraine, it's very pretty, can't think of the name right now, but am pretty sure it's not a snowdrop, at least, not what "we" know to be snowdrops. Am pretty sure there are some snowdrops on my gallery, as we have a small clump of them beside the front gate which appear each January or so.

Its a shame the flowers were not all out,it would have looked much better, I'll keep an eye on it, thanks for looking in.
