About This Image

Part of a series of photos of Lisianthus. This photo was taken with a sunset sky in the background with a reduced flash to light the immediate flowers. By using a high f-stop I was able to capture both the flower and sky with some detail. Colors were enhanced a bit using Photo Studio 5.5.
If the scene looks a bit surreal, ... it is. I believe that the effect is created by the use of the flash along with natural light. The unfolding sunset (natural light) is to the lower right, while the flash is on the camera. In addition, the flash emits a different light than natural light, causing the unique look. I suppose it would be possible using warming filters and lighting umbrellas, to disperse the light and create a more "natural" effect (but this is out of my budget right now). Besides, I like the way it came out.
