About This Image

While visiting my daughter and grand kids in Kearny, Arizona I took some photos of the Saguaro that are everywhere. The range for the Saguaro is in the Sonoran Desert of extreme southeastern California, southern Arizona and adjoining northwestern Mexico. The Saguaro grows very slowly at around an inch a year and growing to heights of 15 to 50 feet. The largest plants, with more than 5 arms, are estimated to be 200 years old. An average old Saguaro would have 5 arms and be around 30 feet tall. I think the Saguaro starts to grow the arms at around 70 years old - I mean young LOL.

Hi Lorraine, Beverly, and Carol :) Thanks a bunch for the nice comments. Well Lorraine they do get dark around the bottom and turn a little on the gray side like this one is starting to look, but they still look great for there age. This one is around 130 years old and no wrinkles yet LOL...

A very interesting image, great information. I had no idea they lasted to such a ripe age (but do they still look good at 200 years :)
