About This Image

Great Blue Heron flying back to its nest. There was a lot of activity at the nesting area this evening.
And a pair of Bald Eagles has made their nest on a tree on the same cliff face as the herons. Saw the pair of eagles take off together, and then saw them circling in the distance. Then suddenly, one was sitting on a tree branch near it's nest again, but I hadn't seen the eagle return, it was "just there".

Thankyou Alex D. good to hear from you as always. That's a good expression too, about nature pulling no punches.

Nice capture, Alandra. Yes, nature can be cruel, it pulls no punches.

Hi Golda, I didn't hear that, but last evening while near the heron nesting bluff area, on a post overlooking the beach area, I noticed what looked like a baby heron skull and the long neckbones ontop of the post. Thought it was a dried plant stem and flowerhead initially, then looked closer. So some predator had caught that baby heron. Nature can be very cruel.

Alandra,I heard on the news the other night that alot of herron's nest are being raided by eagles. This is driving the herrons into different nesting areas.Great shot of this one.
