About This Image

Red Tailed Hawk in the wild, at moment of liftoff from a tree branch.
Captured locally at a farmhouse garden. One of the hawk's feet is off the branch, the other foot is just above the branch.

thanks Carol and Alex for the nice comments. Yes Alex, I know, dratted bird would have to fly in opposite direction, lol. Typical, right! The thing is, that he had very little space to manoever, to get out of there, -- I cloned loads of branches out of this image, as he was surrounded by twiggy branches. So it seemed he was heading out of there the best way he could. There had been a pair of mallards in the little slough nearby, so we thought that was what the hawk was checking on. But with us being there, he decided to abandon his plans.
