thankyou all, Anne, Carol and Janice for the nice comments, am happy you like the red columbine. I had some pretty light pink columbines last summer, but they didn't amount to anything this year. Strange how that happens.

Hi Lorraine, thanks for the nice comments. Have had the same experience as you, - these always seem to revert back to the purple/mauve colours. Was surprised to see this one appear this year, as nothing happened last year when I planted them, and had forgotten about them :) Some insect has been sampling this poor thing, but thought I'd give it some publicity anyway, after it struggling to show up.

Lovely flower, i have only known them as granny bonnets, I could only ever get a lavender colour to grow here.
