I happened upon a Western Diamondback rattle snake on my visit to Arizona. Very lucky to find one out this early. The weather was great and unseasonable warm even for the area we were in, near Kearny. This guy really had a very bad attitude, the locals had told us they were very aggressive when they first wake up in the spring. I would say this is true. It was a thrill to photograph him so close up. This is one of my favorite shots from a great trip. Thanks for looking. Don

Ypou are brave - but you did get an excellent shot of the rattler with nice clear eye and rattles

Hi Don, Wow Great Shot! You caught it all, the tongue sticking out, that gleam in it's eye, and even the rattles up in the air. I'm glad you had fun out here in Arizona with our friendly critters LOL.. I have been trying to get a few shots of some snakes but just never seem to run into them, maybe this year... Oh my daughter lives in Kearny, that's where I got some Saguaro cactus shots.

Are you CRAZY! I agree with Cindy on the running a mile or more! Sure hope you weren't very close and just a had a great lense, thank -fully not bit! ANd thats a really big snake! I can't even stand the little garters here in NY! Great shot though! Julie

Thanks Cindy, Carol and Alex for the very nice comments! No, we didn't eat the rattler Alex...LOL. I've heard that they are tasty too though. It was so neat to be near one and he was such a cool snake that we even helped him back into his den after the photo session. Thanks again. Don

Hi Don, this IS a great shot. I'm afraid I would have run a mile had I happened upon one of these! so you are a braver person than me. Enjoyed viewing tho' as I always do with your awesome photos. :)
