About This Image

Eleven domestic ducks showed up one afternoon about a month ago. Now there are only 9. Where they come from we have no idea - they show up about 4pm, chow down on the fallen orange and grapefruit rinds for an hour or two then waddle off again in pairs.

Thanks Alandra - these characters were fun to watch - we could almost set our clocks by the time s they arrived and disappeared!

very pretty scene of the ducks, Vicki, and love the dappled lighting also. yep, the drakes have the curl in the tail feathers.

Really? Now I learned something new today, Karen - about the males having curled tail feathers. Thank you. 13 of them showed up one day in Florida where I was camped - they were down to 11 when I left. I met their owners while searching for the owners of a darling dachshund one night. Apparently a neighbor "rented" the flock for a few hours every day to eat mosquito larva in a sinkhole that had filled with water. When they had their fill they'd head our way for the orange and grapefruit windfalls as they love citrus fruit.

Where was this taken! I know the ones with the curled tail feathers are males. Must be a social event! lol! Thanks for sharing.
