About This Image

This is the center of a just-opening Queen Anne's Lace flowerhead, showing the characteristic "Purple Spot" floret in the center, surrounded by hundreds of as-yet-unopened white florets. The larger pink-colored florets around the outer edge are usually only apparent as the flowerhead is opening.

Wow! What an interesting and well captured Queen Ann's Lace. I must take a look at this flower closer to enjoy what you have photographed.

very nice, Alfresco, and interesting also, as had not been aware of a purple spot appearing at the centers of these Queen Anne's Lace flowers, or the fact that the larger florets around the edge of the flowerhead are pale pink when in the process of opening. It seems to be a similar growth pattern of the flowerhead as the lace-cap hydrangeas
