Beautiful color - I like the light background - it makes the flower stand out.

Thanks, Steve. I enlarged this so much that the focus was affected, but I really liked the composition of the single stalk and the plain background better than the original photo with several flower stalks and leaves. And, I like the way that the softer focus makes the petals look. I think it makes them look like a brush stroke. I'll try to get a similar photo of this flower with sharper focus to compare this one with. I am having fun with my new camera and my new photo editing software.

Nice series of flower studies, Marsha! This is my favourite in terms of composition and subject, although I think the focus may be a bit soft - but that might be the compression. Whatever, the purple colour is to die for!
