Beautiful capture with the plum color and sharp detail. Reminds me of a male house finch. We do not have these here.

Thanks for the great comments Larry and Ann,I was fortunate enough to catch this purple finch in the early morning sunlight. I am using my Sony H1 with a 12x optical zoom and so far it has taken some very nice shots for me.

Whittler I have viewed many of your bird photos and they are all done so clearly and beautifully. This one is also just perfect. I like the lighting and the clarity. I have never had the opportunity to see this bird in person. Great capture.
