About This Image

This is a large Prickly Pear cactus that is growing at my parents house in California. Just a week or so before I shot this photo the round things were all green, then just like that they were red with some yellow.

not sure how I missed seeing this before, Alan, it's wonderful. Have never seen anything like this (in real life), amazing! I did see Karen's photo earlier and admired that also.

Thanks, Alan, for the plug. They are called tunas in Spanish. This cactus has much smaller spines than the wicked ones that our wild variety produces.

Hi Don, Glad you enjoyed my cactus shot. I know nothing about what cactus or cactus parts are eatable but I did see a photo that Karen Moen http://www.thelensflare.com/u_karenmoen.php has where she mentioned that jelly is made from them. So I guess if your lost in the desert you could eat them, just watch out for all the needles LOL...

Pretty catus shot Alan! They look edible, are they? No natural cacti in these parts, it's nice to see them. Don
