Excellent Photo Tammi!! Great background and focusing. I love the shadow with it's martian looking head and big eyes. I use to mess with these guys in my younger years by poking my finger real fast at them. They open there wings to look bigger and I think hiss.

I agree, great shot. Have also never seen one. I have heard they catch hummingbirds. infact believe there's an image of that on TLF,but I never wanted to view it.

WOW!!! This is beautiful praying mantis. Last summer one came to my window and somehow got down inside - between windows. I really prayed as I tried to help him out. He was big and beautiful and kept looking in at me. He stayed two days and then found his way out! Great picture
