About This Image

This is a copy of a photo of my mother. She graduted from Eastern State Normal School. She taught all her life after my sister and I were in school. She loved teaching and her students often dropped by our home to say "hi". My mother played the piano and I recall falling to sleep while my mother played and sang songs of the day. She had a wonderful singing voice and was in a review that the teachers put on for the parents. She also spoke of her fellow teacher, Peter Webb, when he was retiring to a new job. My mother and father would sing together ,as we rode in the car, when we were children. I think mostly to keep us quiet. It is a good memory. On her death I received many cards from her past students. One letter from a lawyer said,"that if your mother hadn't made/taught me to read I would never be where I am today". That is a small bit info on the life of my mother.

Hi Talsi, Thank you for viewing and leaving a comment. Yes, in mom's basketball group picture in ESNS a good deal of the girls had similar hair styles.

This lovely portrait reminds me so much of my own Mother, hair style, etc.

Thank you Alan for viewing this photo of Mom. Funny how my parents gave us some habits in our lives. I love to sing while I work or get ready to go out for the afternoon. I got that from Mom and my of center humor is from Dad. He was always saying something that would get to the people closest to him. Lovely's had the funniest reunions. They "roared in laughter" telling stories, and I, as a young girl, sat and enjoyed every minute. :-)

What a wonderful story about your mother, I wanted to hear more :-) It's something how times have changed, we would also sing while traveling, now days the kids watch videos in the back seat, what a shame.. ~Alan~
