About This Image

Until May, a visit to Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, Massachusetts will yield this same view at low tide (the best viewing time) - nothing! In May, viewing times will be limited, but June is the scheduled month for the unveiling.

The site of the Pilgrims' landing on US soil in the 1600s is undergoing a major overhaul. For now, the monument is off-limits to the general public, with the rock itself covered by a large box - visible on the samd in this image.

This two-frame panorama shows how the rock is barely visible at high tide.

Hi Alwx, Don and Cindy. I'm so glad this had such a varied response. Even I learned something from them. My daughters seemed a bit vague when I asked them if the monument covered the rock - they, too must have seen the chain link fence as you did, Alex. Don, your comment is what they told me - perhaps this ediface will give it a better visual impact. Because it appears to be crated at the moment I am unsure if they are trying to lift it up a bit. And, Cindy, I'm glad you enjoy my gypsy lifestyle!!! Vicki

Nice shot Vicki, the monument does look much nicer than the old chain link fence they had for years.I think they could slip a decent sized boulder in there too,but then it wouldn't be a rock I guess.

Neat! I've never seen it in person. Everyone always says it is a lot smaller than the thought it would be. Funny how the mind works. Cool capture! Don
