About This Image

For a short while we're working near Plymouth, Massachusetts. The weather has been bitter - rain, cold, muddy, and healthy winds. I've been anxious to get to Plymouth before the tourist season got into full swing, and bundling up against the chill, was finally able to take advantage of a day off where the cold actually accentuated the lighting conditions.

Plymouth, Massachusetts, where the pilgrims landed from the Mayflower, retains much of its origins. This street scene is a good example of architecture and it's earlier, narrow roads.

Jas, it's no wonder that this reminds you of an English village. This was where the pilgrims landed. Even the area towns reflect their British origins, with Taunton only a few miles to the west, founded in 1635. I grew up in London and went to boarding school in Devon for 4 years - many years ago. Like many of those English villages, there is no rhyme or reason to the street layout - they all go higgledy-piggledy and are delightful. Vicki

Lovely scene; it reminds me of an English village, with the church at the top of the street and the narrow road. :)
