thankyou for leaving a comment, Ross. We chanced upon the owl when we were walking our Labs near home. My husband took the labs on ahead so that I could capture some images of the great horned owl. It appeared to be dozing most of the time I was there :) but eventually flew away. There's a family of these g.horned owls in that same place each year, and the babies are born each spring, and all the residents enjoy watching the youngsters grow and fledge etc.
