same owl, looking skywards this time, great horned owl adult, in the wild, it was about 30 feet up in the tree

thanks, Deb. I was quite pleased at how these turned out, esp. considering the time of day : ) A few days ago we were walking the same trail, when the owl took off, and a large feather floated gently down behind him, so we found it and brought the feather home. Hope to take a closeup of that feather soon. We do love being able to see these wonderful birds every day, altho only the one seems to be around lately.

Wonderful feather detail you've captured, in this shot. S/he looks like a ringbarked tree or a kind of forest fungus. How lucky you are seeing these lovely birds :)
