About This Image

This is an ancient Douglas Fir that stands in our front yard.It is a challenge, to say the least, to get a good shot of this mighty specimen.I took this one from across the road, and I think the snow added some dimension to the shot.

first time I've seen this one, Claudia. That is an amazing sized tree. Agreeing with Steve about the bit of colour in the brickwork in the background. Am sure you've become very attached to this giant of a tree, as we have to the tall cedars near our property line at the back. I always fear that if we sold our house, the next owners would take the cedars down, as so many new owners have done in this area.

This picture went straight to my heart with its massive strength! Cover lightly with snow, it seems to say: "Hey! there's even icing on the cake for you!" I love trees anyway and this adds more joy - birds can nest among its limbs, children can climb and exchange stories. Without a doubt the color - "is it your home?" lends just the colorful touch to set off the picture. Heart-tugging picture. ......Anne

A splendid specimen, and well captured. I especially like the little splash of red-brown in an otherwise severely black and white image.
