Great capture...the butterfly musuem in Niagara Falls is a great place to get these kinda photos too. You are also right in that they are hard to get a great shot when others are around.

Thank you, Alan and Carol. And yes, the leaf tips are a little distracting, but I still likd it. As to cheating, no way. I didn't have to mention where it was taken. Ashveille NC has a little Nature Center and small zoo, not much good for photographing the animals because of the settings. But this year they brought in a butterfly exhibit 10" X 20" all screened with plants and the butterflys. They put sugar water on your hands if you want and then the butterfly will land. Getting pictures here wasn't easy in the tight quarters with sm children all over the place. I'd just be getting a good focus on one and some child sticks his hand out to the butterfly.

Hi Talsi, Wow what a bright red butterfly. Nice job with your composition, exposure, and focusing. The leave tips by it's head are a tad distracting, but still it is a excellent photo and I'm jealous... Oh by the way, taking photos of butterflies at a exhibit is cheating LOL..
