Thanks, Alex. Only the tip is colored red. The rest of the branch is green leaves. The branches reach out quite a long way.

Hi Alandra. They grow at each end of each branch. I'll post a photo of the full plant so you can see. This is the best year for these I have ever seen. This one was on the desert, but they are all over town too.

this is a striking colour and interesting form of flower. guess these attract hummingbirds with that tubular shape and vivid red. do a lot of sprays of these grow on each plant, or just one stem?
