About This Image

Taken at North Park, the nature center. I just found out that the snake is not a Rat snake but a Northern Water Snake. They seem to hang around this area right on the edge of bushes overhanging the water.

Good capture. How close were you to him?

Thanks for looking and commenting Carol, alandra, Dud and Alex. Dud, it's funny you mentioning about the head, on one of the first photos I posted I was looking for the head and thought I was seeing the tail until I brought the photo up on my computer and was surprised that I was actually photographing the head. I read that these snakes are not poisonous but will defend themselves viciously when threatened and will bite.

This is a good snake picture. Before I clicked it I did not see the head and then saw the true picture once I clicked it.
