About This Image

taken yesterday afternoon, from our area. Mount Baker is a 10,778 ft ice clad volcano in the North Cascade range of Washington State, USA. We have a very good view of it from our area, which is approx. 45 - 50 miles from Mt Baker.(have to check that). It's especially pretty during sunsets, when the setting sun is reflected on the white snow. Hope to capture that sometime : )

Mt Baker's icy volcanic dome rises 15 miles south of the Canadian/US border at Abbotsford, British Columbia (where we used to live, and there's an even better/closer view of the mountain from there). It supports 12 glaciers. Its summit crater is ice filled, levelling out on top to form a relatively flat 35 acre ice summit. Mt Baker has been very active over the last 10,000 years.

thankyou Anne for the nice comments, as always. This view still has the wires in it, - there's more captures of Mt Baker where I have removed the wires, hope you can find them : )

Beautiful picture, Alandra. It seems to have a holy look about it.I think they should have named it The Holy Mountain. Of course, this is just my own feeling. *g* A great capture of its purity and loveliness.

It's very lovely, and the sky works so well with the snowy peaks. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)

thankyou very much, Tam, Carol, and the two Alexes : )- Whittler and Alex D. Am going to keep working on this scene, and hope to capture the "pink mountain" shot, when the sunset is reflecting off the snow. probably in the summertime, when evenings are longer. It is a fabulous sight.
