About This Image

Not quite the grand canyon, the Manawatu Gorge is well known in New Zealand. There has been extensive work due to land slips with bad weather and rain. I can remember being really scared travelling through here as a child. Its not so bad now. You can see the road on the right (photo was taken from the car) and on the left you can see a tunnel that the train goes through. The road is one side, and the train the other. Luckily I have experienced travelling through on both sides. On the train, you look down in places and its just a drop. Was kind of scary.

Thanks for your comment Karen. Yes, we are a really beautiful country and we would be pleased to have you visit here someday. Some overseas friends of mine think its quite funny that we can travel from the East Coast (where I live) to the West Coast in about 4-5 hours. I still have lots of our country to see. I haven't seen much of the South Island yet. There are some truly remarkable sights down that way.

Your country has some of the most incredible geography. I'd love to go there some day. Thanks for sharing these lovely scenes.
