About This Image

This was taken of the lunar eclipse on August 28th 2007 from New PLymouth, New Zealand. The shadow slid up from the bottom, eventually covering the moon & turning it a rusty red. Unfortunately my digital wouldn't focus on the red moon as it was just too dark. Still, it was magic to watch, even if I did get a sore neck!

We were watching it here in Texas and the earth's shadow moved over the top and then down to the bottom. Unfortunately clouds obscured the second half of the eclipse. I was wishing I had a telescope attached to my camera. You did a nice job of capturing some of the moon detail as well as the shadow.
