About This Image

This is based on a picture of a family gravestone combined with a poem I wrote a few years ago. The gravestone will not be legible, but I am hoping that the verse may be.

Technically, I am still trying to learn about appropriate sizing for clarity. Maybe I will be unable to achieve legibility of so many words!

The gravestone commemorates many family generations who died at various ages. In essence, the poem also focusses on the fact that death is not exclusive to any age group. It was written after the funeral of my friend's Dad who "died young". She was pregnant at the time. Hence, the next verse is about the christening of her baby not long after. The vulnerability and circular nature of life is the aim of the final verse where death occurs before birth.

Thanks so much for your words Alandra. I am relieved- this is the one I was working on the other day that I worried would be inappropriate. Can't avoid sad times I know- luckily the same applies to happy times!

very well done, Mary, very nicely set up. And yes, the inscription on the gravestone is legible. The verses give pause for thought. You are very talented. Thankyou for sharing your work with us.
