thanks for the nice comments, Alan. the "umbrella" leaves are on new plants flowering for the first time this year, - a type of penstemon, planted esp for the hummers lol, but so far haven't seen them taking any notice of them :)

What a great photo of one plant helping the other survive :-) Great colors and the water drops really add a nice touch showing the leaves protecting the flowers.
