Hi Matt, Your very welcome and thanks for dropping by my photos.. I hear ya about the bulb setting, my Canon XTi only goes up to 30 seconds unless I'm missing it somewhere. I've improved from this 2006 shot.

Hello, thanks for your comments, good shots, does your camera have a bulb mode ? If you can utilize that you'll get heaps more shots, I'm pretty sure your camera has it but I am not that lucky enough to know where to find it. But I suppose that's up to you how you get your shots, but in nighttime it is the BEST ( that's only my say so tho !) Well done . Take care.

Thanks Carol, what can I say I enjoy taking lightning and don't think it is any more dangerous than driving a car or flying.. Thanks Lisha, I'm glad you also liked my photo. Hey Alandra I really don't know what to tell you about the 50mm lens. They are the best lens for sharpness and great for using in low light. Mine is the cheapest one you can buy and it takes great photos. Here is a page that explains the 50mm lens pretty good. You need to copy the link and add the h t t p: for this link. //vothphoto.com/spotlight/articles/forgotten_lens/forgotten-lens.htm Do a Google search, there is a lot of information about the 50mm lens. The 50mm is a fast lens and you need to make sure your focusing is right on. Hope this helps you some.

Hi Alan, about the 50 mm lens. I got one of those awhile back, and don't find it sharp at all. Mine is a II series, maybe that's the problem, I dunno. I hardly ever use mine as wasn't happy with the way the images turned out.

Thanks very much Mary, Alandra, Brian, and Vicki for your wonderful comments.. Vicki about your ISO question when taking lightning you need to use a long shutter speed to have a better chance of catching a lightning bolt. So setting the ISO to 100 lets you do that. When using a tripod and the focus set you can use the slow ISO no problem. What also helped a lot was the 50mm lens. A cheap $70.00 50mm lens will take sharper photos than any zoom lens, well unless you spend thousands of dollars on a high end professional lens. If you don't have a 50mm lens get one, you will be amazed. ~Alan~
