Yep -squared lights aren't typical - but not uncommon, either. This one sits about half way between Canada and the US on the Canadian side.

Thank you, Alandra, Maya and Dud. Many lights are rather isolated, Dud, but this one's in a cluster. The Straits around Lake Huron and Lake Michigan have many dangerous areas. Most of the lights are automated now, but are still critical for safe passage through the dangerous waterways of these magnificent inland seas.

Thanks for bringing something new to me. I have not seen many lighthouses. It is great that there were birds flying when you took the shot because I often think of lighthouses as lonely. I am glad to be wrong in this case.

a great shot. the sky is very attractive, and the white of the lighthouse shows up so well with the light on it, contrasting with the black paintwork. It would make a great card, as someone else wrote.

Thank you both for your comments and encouragement. This was my first digital camera - very basic and rather limited, but a good "trainer" in many ways.

Another nice lighthouse shot. ANd another good prospet for a card. YOu should try self publishing some note cards for a craft show, or contact local merchants about a consignment sale.

Wow this is a great shot. I love the colors of the sky, and the simplicity of the lighthouse.
