About This Image

This is my Lace-Cap Hydrangea, which was a birthday gift from a very, dear, friend. It is approximately 5 years old and has been a mass of colour this summer.

Lace-Cap Hydrangeas have a flatter bloom than the standard shrub and range in colours, depending on the type of soil you have; a more acidic soil will produce blue blooms, whereas an alkaline soil will yield more pinkish colouring. We have several shrubs, in our garden, which have colours ranging from blue through to pink.

Thanks for looking. :)

Thanks Chriss and Cindy for the nice comments. I was surprised that this shrub has grown as well as it has, after moving it from our previous home. Yes, Cindy, I'm sure the cans would work; some people used to say, iron nails would have the same effect. :)

This is so pretty Jas. I once read if you burn some old tins and add them to the hole that you plant your hydrangea, they will flower a deep vivid blue. I do love hydrangeas and the mass of colour they produce so am slowly adding them amongst my garden too. Your image is so delightful to view :)
