This very large pigeon has a loud unmistakable flight sound.

A.Lovely - Mar 09, 2008 04:09 PM EDT Nice photograph to view. The feathers are so beautiful and well captured.
Guest - Oct 06, 2007 10:45 PM EDT Thank you Carol and Karen,I was surprised with the clarity as there was wire mesh between us,this bird is also known as a Wood Pigeon, unlike common Pigeons this hungs around our woodlands/Native forests and is protected. In saying that they are protected is contradicting as native people here have it as a cultural right to eat as a cermonial/delicacy,the sound is a thunderous flutter coming from these big beauties.
regards Vince.
Guest - Sep 22, 2007 03:41 AM EDT The head reminds me of our white-winged doves, and their wings make a whistling sound when they fly up suddenly. Nicely captured shot.
