King of Carrolton

About This Image
This is the king of the Carollton parade. Every Mardi Gras parade has a king complete with crown. The Mardi Gras colors of purple, green, and gold are prominently displayed on the float. These colors were obtained almost by mistake. Rex, the king of Carnival, was looking for a costume. One was borrowed from a play that was going on in a local theater. The colors of the costume were purple, green, and gold. Grecian urns, like the one in the front of the float, can be seen throughout New Orleans from cemeteries to fronts of houses.
