A new visitor came to our yard today and I can't find it in my book.Can anyone identify it?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think Carol and Alex are getting more bird varieties than the rest of the US this year. It's been a real treat to see them all. How many feeders, suet cakes and birdhouses have you two put up? Vicki

WOW!! thanks for the info Vicki and Don,he sure was a beauty.I hope to get a bit closer to him if he comes back.There were two of them,so maybe they will set up housekeeping in my neighborhood.

No doubt! It is an Indigo Bunting for sure Alex. We have these pretty little guys in the state forest but I have never been able to get close enough to one for a good shot. This is a great shot! They are cool birds. Their feathers are actually black but they reflect blue light, they are awsome birds. Don

Beautiful image, Alex. Going through my books it looks like you have an Indigo Bunting here. They normally breed from SE Manitoba to Central Maine, south to central Texas and N Florida. Vicki
