About This Image

This cross and flowers are along a backroad here in KY on a hill that is both narrow and dangerous. On this hill the road is really only one lane width in places. Someone died in a wreck on this hill in 2002 and only 21 yrs. old. This road is a back way some people take to the liqour store in the next county not too far away.

This pic is straight from the camera; no editing.

There is another cross in memory of someone near this one also. Didn't get a pic of it though.

This seems to be becoming quite a common way of remembering those who've died on our roads. Some of them over here have become almost mini-shrines with candles, etc. In France, there are some notorious stretches of road on which considerable numbers of motorists have died. The authorities have now put up sombre black cut-out figures to mark where each person died, and in some places there are 4 or 5 of these together. It's a salutary reminder.

We have these sorts of crosses on the sides of out roads, an un-nerving feeling when you drive past the ones of someone that you knew, quite sad.
