About This Image

female Rufous or Allen's hummingbird, watching me as she was flying towards our feeder under the front eaves, taken from the open front window. I love the veiling effects of the wings across the throat area in this one, as the wings were moving

thankyou very much Alex D also. I don't know anything about the shutter speeds : ) - I was reading the little manual today (part of it) - but it will take me ages to sort it all out, if ever : )

thanks very much Mary, I like your description of "gossamer wings" too. Maybe I should change the title, or keep it in mind for a future capture.

Simply wonderful photograph. I wonder how fast your shutter would need to be to stop the wings in motion?

Beautiful capture of the Humingbird with gossamer wings.

many thanks, Janice and Mel. glad you like it. The female is less timid of me with the camera than the brighter coloured male hummingbird. He takes off as soon as I turn the lens towards him at the feeder : )

Really great shot of the hummingbird suspended in air. I like the way he is looking at you.
