Hummingbird July 2006

About This Image
hummingbird at the Falling Stars or Crocosmia flowers on our front patio, during the summer.
They are probably "back home" visiting Alan now :)The hummingbirds just migrate to our area each early spring to spend the spring and summertimes here, so that they can build their nests and raise their young where the weather is not as hot as in California, Arizona and Mexico. I believe the eggs would not survive in the heat in those hotter climates. As it is, the parent hummers sometimes have to stand on the edge of their nests and "fan the eggs" with their moving wings, to keep them at the correct temperature, when it gets hot here.
