great blue heron making a surprise landing beside roadway. Not sure who was most surprised, him or us :)
I love the way his chest feathers are moving here, as he is about to touch down, and also his feet appearing to come to a skid stop :)
Of course, wish it was sharper, but you will get the idea of the magnificence of these herons

thanks Don, - well I keep wondering if another chance like that will ever happen again, --probably not : ) but guess it's better than not capturing it at all, right. The look on the heron's face is quite comical.

well, many thanks Vicki, am really happy that you got some enjoyment from it, as had hoped it might be worthwhile sharing here, esp for people who never get to see these where they live. They are really amazing birds with those huge wings.
