Thanks, Alandra. Sorry to be so long getting back to you. I had knee surgery, and haven't been on-line lately. This is a tri-color heron. The markings are a bit different than the great blue heron.

have only just seen this one, Marsha Sea, - what a lovely image, and as everyone else wrote, the background is wonderful also. Now is this a great blue heron? It looks a bit different somehow.

Thank you all for your nice comments. The heron was perched in front of a lake, and the water in the background really made a lovely background color. I was very lucky to walk by at just the right time.

Great shot Marsha. I agree with Alan about the way the colours in bird and the background echo each other, and yet the bird stands out perfectly.

Beautiful photo Marsha! Great composition with wonderful colors and matching background. I really like this photo, it's very fun to view.
