About This Image

Great Blue Heron descending as he comes in to land in the trees, at the nesting area or Heronry, in our area. We saw some exciting events tonight while there. A lot of commotion with predator birds/raptors flying near the heron nests.

Hi Alex, thankyou. yep, he does look like he knows what he's doing. Great to watch them. They are so big, it's amazing how they navigate thru the branches etc

Hi Mary, thankyou for the nice comments. Yes, that's how they do look, as if they are floating down, very beautiful and graceful in their somewhat ungainly appearance, if that makes sense. Such precision too, it's awesome and breathtaking as you say. We were totally amazed when so many flew out of the trees when the eagles were harrassing them.

Looks like he is just floating down for a landing.It must be breathtaking to see them in action. Another great shot.
