It would be hard picking the flower with the thorns, but this is a great shot Gary. You can even see the pollen on it. Carol

Vicki. It is probably illegal in Arizona too. We never pick them. That would be pointless. They beautify the desert and that's where they belong.

What a terrific cactus bloom, Gary. I don't know about Arizona, but in Michigan it is illegal to pick ANY wildflower

Thanks. No. We sure don't pick them. They are not that friendly. The cactus flowers here bloom in late spring and early summer. It is usually pretty warm (hot!) when we go out and get these photos. The more fragile desert flowers bloom earlier in the spring, providing we have had enough rain.
