About This Image

this is one of the parent/Adult Great Horned Owls, (she produced a gruesome capture shortly after this photo : ) --
we were too late to capture images this year of the baby owls in the nest, as they had already fledged by the time we got there. There were 3 babies again this year, but we only saw 2 young owls last evening.
These owls were sooo high up in the cottonwood trees, it was hard to get good photos, but I didn't want to leave without trying

thanks Shirree, am smiling at the eyebrow comment, - come to think of it, it's also a bit like my late Dad's were : ) - when the baby owls see our Labs, their heads bob up and down and round and round : ) very cute

Beautiful! Her (his?) eyebrows look a bit like my hubby's LOL. You have a knack for capturing these beautiful (yet allusive no doubt) birds.

thanks very much, Mary, Carol and Alex. Yes, she's definitely looking down at me (or maybe it's the "he"). She seemed to be sleeping when we arrived there, but in the next frame, she produced the half eaten rat remains, so she must have been holding onto it all that time : )
