About This Image

Great Blue Heron parents and babies in the nest. They seem to be very doting parents. It's really special to be able to watch them tend their babies and the interaction between the babies and parents as well as between the parents themselves.
I hope this will give you some idea of what I feel priveleged to have seen. Since watching these great blue herons more closely, have really come to like them very much. I never realized just how nice they are, before, and what personalities they seem to have.

thanks Karen and Katie, glad you like them. Katie, the herons are nesting high up on a cliff, plus quite a distance from where we stand to watch and take the photos. It's the telephoto lens that allows me to get these shots of them.

I like your heron pictures. I have been watching a green heron(which I'd never seen before) along with some other animals at a swamp and wishing I had a better camera for nature pictures. How close were you to these birds?
